1. Start: Marienplatz & Neues Rathaus

  • Why here: The heart of the city.

  • Highlight: Watch the Glockenspiel (mechanical figures) perform.

  • Time: Daily at 11:00 am, 12:00 pm (and 5:00 pm Mar–Oct).

2. Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady)

  • Directions: Walk West from Marienplatz (3 mins).

  • Highlight: A massive church and landmark; a symbol of the Bavarian capital.

3. Viktualienmarkt

  • Directions: Walk South-East (6 mins).

  • Highlight: Originally a farmers' market, now a gourmet food market and square.

  • Tip: Great spot for lunch in the outdoor garden.

4. Hofbräuhaus

  • Directions: Walk North (5 mins).

  • Highlight: One of Munich's oldest beer halls.

  • Tip: Even if you don't drink, peek inside to see the architecture and Oompah bands. <Reserve a table if eating dinner here>

5. Munich Residenz

  • Directions: Walk West/Northwest (5 mins).

  • Highlight: Former residence of Bavarian Kings. See the architecture and the Cuvilliés Theatre.

6. English Garden & Beer Garden

  • Directions: Walk North through the Hofgarten into the park (25–30 min walk).

  • Highlight: A beautiful walk ending at the Chinesischer Turm (Chinese Tower).

  • Food: Enjoy Schweishaxn (pork knuckle) or Steckerlfisch (grilled fish).

  • Return: Walk to Münchner Freiheit station (15 mins) to take the U-Bahn train home.
